Iceland’s capital is Reykjavik. In terms of quality of life and supply of goods and services, the city has changed dramatically in recent decades, becoming more similar to small cities in Europe. Rural areas I once used for outdoor recreation have been transformed into city suburbs. Even though Reykjavik has grown significantly since my childhood, it has the same characteristics as the place I grew up in.
The same places from my youth, such as Tjornin pond in Reykjavik’s center, are still there. However, the city center has undergone significant changes that are not yet complete. The footpath from the Harpa music hall to the sea is my favorite area in Reykjavik. It demonstrates that Reykjavik, like many other cities, now has a skyline.
