Imagine this. In the year 2018 the air travel industry carried 4.233 billion passengers. That is more than half of the world population and this ought to be a lucrative business, or what?
At the beginning of this year, the airline Wow Air went bankrupt. This bankruptcy has had a major impact on tourism in Iceland. Fewer tourists have arrived this year. Prices of services such as accommodation have dropped.
It is therefore understandable for the tourism industry to be excited for a new Icelandic airline to enter the market. Now it has come to light and is called Play Air.
✈️Ready for WOW air, part tvö? “The airline intends to have two Airbus planes that will fly to six destinations in Europe, and will soon thereafter add flights to four North American cities.” https://t.co/79cOu0gg6f
