In Iceland, some places are more well-known than others and are instantly recognizable in the picture. Then there are other places that are plainer and ordinary but are beautiful anyway.
So it is with these hills that are on the highway in the west of the country near a heath called Þröskuldar or Thresholds in English translation. As the name implies the heath can be difficult to travel in winter.
We were photographing something completely different but somehow a picture was taken of these plain low hills. The weather this day was a typical Icelandic winter weather. Clear skies now and then, and the wind blew the little snow that existed in all possible holes and crevices.
For us, these plain hills are also our beautiful Iceland.
