Iceland is well-known for its midnight sunset and long summer nights. The sun sets behind the mountains in the south at night, but sets behind the sea in the north and Westfjords. When the midnight sun rules, no matter where you are in the country, there is always something magical. The light is incredible, and the shadows give the rocks, cliffs, and hills a mysterious appearance.
If you asked me what a foreign tourist should see and do, I would say the midnight sun. Sitting on a grassy bank by a beautiful fjord and watching the sun set and slowly fall behind the sea horizon is an unforgettable experience.
