Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland and deserves well as such, as all other municipalities and towns are much smaller than Reykjavík. Reykjavík is a very beautiful city. Icelanders like it and tourists often mention how beautiful our capital is.
The area in Reykjavík that is clearly the most popular with tourists is the coastline from the Harpa Music Hall to the artwork Sólfarið. At night when the sun is setting, you are faced with such a spectacle that you can experience again and again without getting tired of it.
In the days of Covid-19, there have often been few people in this area and it is a strange experience, but it has its advantages such as that it is easy to get parking and it is possible to photograph Sólfarið without a group of people standing by it or on it. Of the two, I prefer tourists over the few Covid-19s.
In recent decades, Reykjavík has expanded greatly. The settlement stretches further in all directions, more tall buildings are built and emphasis has been placed on consolidating settlements near the city center. All of this has its pros and cons. In my opinion, the capital of Iceland is more beautiful than it was two decades ago and it is very fun to visit it and experience the changes.
