Experiencing Christmas in the Westfjords is wonderful and magical. Christmas lights shine brightly in the towns and villages surrounded by the high mountains.
The snow makes all the difference. Without snow the landscape darkens and the darkness can be oppressive. That’s why the Christmas lights make all the difference at this time of year.
One of our favorite places is the village of Hnifsdalur. It is in a narrow valley near Isafjordur Town. The village is located in between steep majestic mountains. On the shortest day of the year we drove there and shot a few video clips that you can see in the video below.
