Dyrafjordur is in the Westfjords between Arnarfjordur and Onundarfjordur. The mountains in Dyrafjordur are often called the Icelandic Alps and among them is the highest mountain in the Westfjords, Kaldbakur.
This photo was taken last autumn. It shows the road leading from the Hrafnseyrarheidi heath. The road there is very steep, but offers a spectacular view. Next year new tunnel will replace this road and make is much easier and more secure to travel in this area.
