Sometimes the weather in Iceland is quite freaky. You go out in the sunshine and after a few minutes it is pouring rain or snowing. This confused weather is also often incredibly enjoyable.
In the Westfjords, weather can also be very different between the fjords, although there is a short distance between them and so it was this day.
That day it was sunny in Onundarfjordur when I arrived. After a moment there was a thick snowstorm that entered the fjord. As it thinned out, the sun was shining on the mountains on the other side of the fjord. And this continued while I stayed there.
Freaky snowstorms and weather conditions can happen everywhere even though the Westfjords are known for the fierce snowstorms coming from the Arctic. Here is a video showing crazy snowstorm in Reykjavik.
