Its been a while. The first part of this winter has passed by rather quickly.
The pandemic does not end but life goes on in so many ways. It is time to be thankful for those things. But it can be a hard thing to do as this year has always one more bad thing in store.
The Christmas snow is falling in the Westfjords but in the east the rain has caused an entire town to be evacuated. Mudslides have wreaked havoc on the beautiful town of Seydisfjordur.
It is difficult to live below steep and high mountains. Protections are needed. We have protection walls in Isafjordur but Seydisfjordur has none. Having to evacuate your home is unacceptable and must be terrifying.
We are all Seydisfjordur today.
Rescue teams are using boats to evacuate some of the inhabitants of #Seydisfjordur after a #mudslide hit this afternoon and some roads in town were blocked by the slide. pic.twitter.com/lVYEWM9wmA
