Dynjandi waterfall is one of Westfjord’s most beautiful magnets. You may have seen it multiple times before but it is always exciting to make a visit one more time.
For people in the Westfjords it has become very easy to visit Dynjandi waterfall. A new tunnel has replaced one of the worst and most dangerous road. From Isafjordur town it is only an hour drive for you to view one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.
This summer has been cold and dry. That summer day that we revisited Dynjandi was bright, windy and cold. Walking up the hill towards Dyjandi waterfall kept you warm from the chilling North-east wind. The sound of the wind was sometimes higher than the hammering sound of the waterfall.
The Dynjandi waterfall and the waterfalls below it bear the name Fjallfossar or Mountain Waterfalls in translation. Each of the smaller waterfalls has its own name.
The waterfalls are located in Arnarfjordur which is one of Iceland’s most majestic fjords.
