The past few days have been difficult across the country. There has been heavy snowfall in the north of Iceland and wind speed has been high for some time. Electricity loss has been wide.
Although geothermal energy is used extensively in the heating of houses, large areas of land are still exposed to electricity, and many have been cold in recent days.
The weather was by far the worst that has come in a long time but was very uneven by regions. In the Westfjords the weather was the worst in the Strandir area.
