Winter is Just Around the Corner

After one of the best spring, summer and autumn in years the winter is just around the corner and it is easier to welcome it.

As you can see on the photo the snow is starting to cover Snaefjallastrond (Snow Mountain Beech) in the background. Chill is in the air with the temperature approaching zero degrees.

The first day of winter in Iceland is the 26th of October 2019. Traditionally  summer and winter are the only seasons and therefore winter starts sooner in Iceland than in the northern hemisphere.

In Isafjordur Town there is an annual culture festival called Winter Nights that celebrates the first days of winter.
